AHK joined TreeVolution

It's been awhile that the Aim High Kabataan got together to do something worthwhile. As a call for Mindanaons to come together to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) of India –“Most Trees Simultaneously Planted in Multiple Locations", AHK actively answered the call.

 AHK Planters at the Site

On September 26, 2014 around 3 in the morning, thirty-six young and vibrant AHK members trooped to Upper Labay, one of the many locations in Mindanao for the Greening Mindanao activity geared to plant trees and be part of the Mindanao history.

A tiring but very productive activity, the participants need to pass by 5 rivers and has to walk before reaching the exact planting sites. The record will cover approximately 9,272 hectares (500 seedlings/hectare) in all six (6) regions in Mindanao.

As of 5:00 pm of September 26, 2014, a total of Three Million, Fifty-Eight Thousand, Six Hundred and Twenty Five trees (3, 058, 625), were planted!

Summerkadahan 2011 KICKED-OFF with AHK

The Summer Youth Extravaganza of the then 1st District of South Cotabato Representative Darlene Antonino- Custodio - SUMMERKADAHAN is going strong on its 9th Year. Continued by the current 1st District Representative Pedro B. Acharon, the Congressional Office tied up with the City Mayor's Office thru Mayor Darlene A. Custodio and its constant partner the Sangguniang Kabataan.

For the past 8 years, Summerkadahan had been a Congressional Level Competition for the young Basketball and Volleyball Players of the District. This year though, due to the constrictions of the PNoy Administration on the spending of the Priority Development Assistance Funds (PDAF) commonly known as the "PORK BARREL" of each Congressman; Summerkadahan will be just a City-Level Tournament for us here in General Santos City.

What made Summerkadahan 2011 extra special is the the inclusion of the Inter-School Competitions as part of the Sports Program of the Local Government. Tournaments includes, softball, baseball, football/soccer and more. For the Inter-Barangay, Basketball and Volleyball competitions still continue.

Since its inception, it may sound mediocre but Summerkadahan's primary objective is to keep the young people away from the bad vices most especially Drug Addiction. Partnering with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Summerkadahan Sports Tournament will not be complete without the conduct of Orientation for the participants focusing mainly on the topics: RA 9165, Effects of Drug Abuse and the likes.

On its 9th Year, Aim High Kabataan has been tapped to spearhead the Summerkadahan Orientation. A 3-hour Orientation/Workshop for each barangays was designed for this year. With the the theme, GEARING THE YOUTH FOR A POSITIVELY HEALTHY COMMUNITY THROUGH SPORTS, the AHK Speaker's Bureau added the concentration on the Aspects of a Healthy Sports Environment which includes, Sportsmanship, Teamwork and Good Ethics. Together with the Preventive Education and Community Involvement Division of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Aim High Kabataan bringing the name of Summerkadahan went around the 26 Barangays of General Santos City for 6 days.

Puzzle Game with the Participants

The group also conducted a One-Time, Big-Time Orientation last March 29, 2011 for the Inter-School Participants at the Oval Covered Court.

Aim High Kabataan would like to thank the following: Hon. Pedro B. Acharon, Hon. Darlene Antonino-Custodio, City Mayor's Office, Sports Division., Youth Affairs and Development Office, Sangguniang Kabataan Officials, PDEA, Summerkadahan Participants, Coaches, Teachers and the Summerkadahan Technical Working Group.

PAROKYA ni EDGAR Rocks GENERAL SANTOS

Oval Plaza Stage, General Santos City - Yellows, and combination of Orange and Apple Green were everywhere. Music is already blaring as the sun finally bids goodbye. Familiar campaign jingles keeps on playing, leaving people with LSS. Young people mostly in yellows work like there is no tomorrow. Excitement gives them the drive to work like ants as they transform the stage into a young rockers haven. Who wont be ecstatic when you are volunteering for good governance and youth empowerment plus Parokya ni Edgar as a BONUS?

May 7, 2010, a day before the last day of official campaign period were chosen to be the date of the Grand Rally of the Achievement with Integrity Movement (AIM). Tagged as Libreng Pahalipay sa Katawhan, AIM did not tricked the crowd of using entertainment for their Political Agenda. CLAP! CLAP! goes to all the candidates of AIM Party for being considerate and limited their "talking" time to make way for the fun and entertainment the young generals were expecting.

It was also a night of talent showcase of local dancers, singers and bands that the Generals should be proud of.

Together with their followers and supporters the whole AIM slate showed full force for the grandest rally ever.

As for Parokya ni Edgar, since 1993 they are still the wackiest band ever!.. The Generals went wild when they came out. The supposedly Four-song repertoire doubled up, they were generous. Chito kept on thanking the Generals for the warm reception and gave in to everyone's request - sing the YES YES SHOW!

Chito Miranda up close

ang gwapong Vince

Macho, Macho Man!

Din-Din the Drummer Boy

Darius on the Strings

It was indeed a memorable experience for the Generals! Thank you very much Generals for the pure clean Fun!.. No untoward incident was reported before, during and after the show!

As Chito Miranda put it, let us go out and vote!.. Let us not waste our Right to Suffrage! I am sure by now you know who to vote for!

Again! Daghang Salamat Generals!
