AHK supports WORLD WATER DAY 2011

Since we cannot be in Cape Town on March 22, 2011 to celebrate the World Water Day with the rest of the World, Aim High Kabataan will conduct a TREE-GROWING activity at Barangay Olympog.

We are looking for volunteers who would like to join the AHK TREE-GROWING that will take place on March 20, 2011(Sunday)at one of the watersheds of the city located in Barangay Olympog. Meeting place will be at the Youth Affairs Development Office (beside Puericulture Clinic/ City Hall Grounds) at exactly 6 o'clock in the morning.

This is the first time in human history that most of the world's population live in cities: 3.3 billion people ...and the urban landscape continues to grow.

38% of the growth is represented by expanding slums, while the city populations are increasing faster than city infrastructure can adapt.

The objective of World Water Day 2011 is to focus international attention on the impact of rapid urban population growth, industrialization and uncertainties caused by climate change, conflicts and natural disasters on urban water systems.
To read more about the World Water Day, check the official website by clicking this.

With this years theme, Water for cities: responding to the urban challenge, aims to spotlight and encourage governments, organizations, communities, and individuals to actively engage in addressing the defy of urban water management. As a youth organization, Aim High Kabataan will be part of this history by helping the City of General Santos in saving the city's most important source of water.

If you will be joining this cause and it is your first time make sure to take note of the ff:

2. Wear confortable footwear. Going to the watershed requires long hour of walking/hiking.
